The Bouquet of Psyche

Being in a new place shifts us energetically in a multitude of ways — a massive one being the cosmic dance of time. As a student of Mythopoetic astrology and Astrocartography for some time now, and experimenting on myself over the last year, I’ve been affirmed time and again.

I’ve written in this newsletter before how affirmation and validation are often base-level feelings that don’t usually ignite the way forward for us when the time comes. But, with astrology and Astrocartography, they do. They illuminate the lamp as we find ourselves in a dark, dark wood, or lost at sea in a raging storm, or circling the confines of the labyrinth, unsure what the next right step to take may be.

Here’s a brief breakdown of what I offer:

My niche of astrology is Mythopoetic meaning I weave in Greco-Roman myths to better illuminate the natal chart as a story (a poem, if you will) of one’s psyche, personality, and life. As we know, myths contain a fairytale quality full of twists and turns, highs and lows. I suspect that’s why mythic storytelling has lived on through us from the dawn of time until this very day… we see ourselves in these stories as archetypal figures and our natal chart reflects to us exactly that.
In my readings, I also take a lens from Carl Jung’s influential work on archetypes and the unconscious mind and how it interplays with what we often deem “fate.” I practice Carolyn Elliot’s Existential Kink work based on Jung’s most influential thesis, “Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will rule your life and you will call it fate.” This can help us integrate and alchemize what’s going on at the deepest level of our psyche and get us to the root of life’s biggest blocks.
A sweet niche bonus: reading Astrocartography maps. This practice, coined by Jim Lewis, is revolutionary! It’s a huge reason why I chose my specific location here in Maine. Astrocartography is known as locational (or relocation) astrology and is the study of how planetary energies reflect different parts of our psyche that get “lit up” depending on where we move or travel to. I interpret the charts whilst holding the natal and relocated birth charts along with the ACG lines, parans, and transits.
It’s important to note that the body-nervous system-aura complex (coined by Pilar Lesko) is the basis of the work I aim to do in all aspects of my life. My commitment to energy work/hygiene, nervous system regulation/somatic awareness, and alchemizing the unconscious/conscious mind ensures sovereign interactions and connections when working together; this helps subdue any enmeshing of opinions/projections onto you and me.

The magic of Astrocartography is seeing how each corner of the world represents a distinct part of ourselves and our psyche that gets activated when we go directly to that place.

The beauty of Mythopoetic/archetypal astrology is the weaving together of mystical “talismans and charms” — an imaginary bouquet of wildflowers, velvet bows, stinging nettle, feathers, stones, bones, little creatures, and the like that illuminate the broader strokes of our life and personality in the divine timing and cosmic dance that is this human experience.

I like to think of a reading as a story held loosely together; a bouquet with a tattered, silk ribbon laid at your feet that feels like a gift — an offering from the Heavens — and a remembrance that you are so intrinsically you. Pick it up, touch it, smell it, feel it; see yourself in it. It is a mirror and a daemon.
